Why Purple?

For over 20 years, purple has been the color to symbolize domestic violence. Its origins date back to a leader of the battered women's movement that was murdered in her own domestic violence homicide. Her mourners wore her favorite color, purple, out of homage and respect. It simultaneously became known as the color of the domestic violence movement.
